So is Pisco from Peru or Chile?

My friends from Latin America have often disputed whether the tasty alcohol called Pisco is Peruvian or Chilean. So what's the story?

Depends on who you ask! Ha. No, really.... Pisco is actually originally from Peru, but the Chileans became the primary producers of the alcohol and were the first to bring it to popularity on the international market. Hence the dispute. Both countries would like to claim it as their own....
