liqueur: A spirit flavored and sweetened with extracts of nuts, fruits and/or herbs.

maraschino cherry: A cherry cooked in sugar and maraschino liqueur. Often used as a drink garnish.

measure: A one-ounce measuring cup used to prepare alcoholic drinks.

mix: Any non-alcoholic liquid that is used with spirits to make a cocktail. Mixes include fruit juices, tomato juice, sodas and water, among other liquids.

mulling: Mulling is a medieval method of gently heating a base of wine, cider or beer with spices and fruit.

neat: A spirit without mix, water or ice.

on the rocks: A spirit served over ice, with nothing else added.
