alcohol by volume (ABV): Indicates the percentage of pure ethyl alcohol in a drink.
 
aperitif: Any drink consumed before eating to improve appetite.
 
bitters: A family of alcoholic spirits flavored with bitter herbs.
 
celery salt: A salt used to frost glasses and flavor drinks.
 
chaser: Any drink consumed immediately after drinking a shot of alcohol. Beer, water and soda are common chasers.
 
cider: A sparkling apple juice. Cider comes as both an alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage.
 
cobbler: A drink where fruit juice is mixed with spirits or wine. Served in a tall glass.
 
cocktail master: A bartending tool used in the creation of layered drinks.
 
coconut cream: A popular mix for many tropical cocktails, coconut cream is a thick liquid extracted from coconut meat.
 
cooler: A drink in which the main ingredients are fruit juice, spirits and a carbonized beverage. Often served in a tall glass.
 
crusta: Any drink where the lip of the glass is frosted with sugar or salt.
 
cup: A punch served in a pitcher instead of a bowl.
 
dash: A unit of measurement. One dash equals approximately one-sixth of a teaspoon.
