I took the above photograph yesterday when I had dinner at Bourbon Street Bar and Grill – hard to believe that the restaurant is in the heart of NYC on 46th between 8th and 9th!
Bourbon Street has totally re-created New Orleans’s French Quarter by retrofitting a restaurant row building into a perfect replica of a Bourbon Street establishment and by assembling a perfect team to provide amazing New Orleans food (alligator and all!), beverage, and service (super-friendly and knowledgeable).

I was fortunate enough to attend an event hosted by Remy Martin and held at Manhattan’s Bar Boulud this week. The fete was held to honor the release of Remy Martin 1989 – the first single vintage cognac available in the US since 1965. Unlike the vast majority of cognacs, which relay on blending hundreds and sometimes thousands of eaux de vie to achieve balance, Remy Martin 1989 contains the harvest of only one year (100% Grande Champagne grapes).
Before trying the cognac however, we were served an opulent meal paired with a wonderful selection of wines. To start Amuse Bouche including Olive Oil Poached Cod and Louisiana Shrimp were served with Champagne. Maine Peekytoe Crab Salad, Cucumber, Radish, and Meyer Lemon paired with Philippe Colin came afterwards. Philippe Colin is vibrant, yet goes down smooth with the perfect balance of sugar and acidy. It has hints of dried fruits and mineral notes. For the main course a Beef Duo (Filet Mignon and Braised Flatiron Steak), were served accompanied with Carrot Mousseline, Onion Confit and Marquis d’Angerville, Volnay 2004. The 2004 Pinot was impeccably well-balanced with notes of mocha and hints of floral and spice. It had a mineral finish and an impressive length. Lastly, for dessert they served Bar Boulud’s Custard Cake with Baked Figs accompanied by the real treat of the evening—Remy Martin 1989.

Louis XIII just debut an extremely rare edition of Louis XIII Black Pearl Magnum. The bottle was recently unveiled at the new Rose Club bar at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Initially launched in 2007, the 750 ml limited-edition Black Pearl decanter was sold out in less than a month, but for those that can afford the hefty price tag (approximately $1,000 per glass and $32,000 for a bottle), Louis XIII Black Pearl Magnum will be served at luxury properties worldwide including The Plaza Hotel in New York City, the St. Regis Hotel in Washington D.C., and Prive, MGM, and Joel Robuchon in Las Vegas.

It’s easy to get stressed-out watching the news these days, so I love what Svedka is doing with their "Join the Party" campaign which parodies the actual Presidential Race and encourages all Americans to put the party back into politics and raise a cocktail in unity☺ Kitschy but cute!
